Nexuiz is a 3d deathmatch game that has been in development since the summer of 2002. The goal of the project is to create a high quality first person shooter that can be played freely across all platforms in one package: PC, Mac, and can be even included in Linux distributions. The game is entirely open source, with the sources of the engine, gamecode, map files, and compiling tools, all included with the download, all under the GPL license.
Nexuiz is based on the Darkplaces engine, built on OpenGL technology. The darkplaces engine is an advanced Quake1 based engine developed mainly by Forest "LordHavoc" Hale, who has been working with the Quake1 engine for many years. A few of Darkplaces main features are Quake3bsp support, realtime lighting and shadowing, new particle effects, advanced menu system, and Md3 model support.
tenho andado a experimentar no osx, esta fantastico, e ja planeio fazer um server dedicado em linux para a comunidade webtuga disfrutar tambem, e um ambiente optimo, completamente na desportiva, completamente contrario ao do CS, onde so ha brigas e birrinhas.

Is there some kind of rcon?
Yes starting with Nexuiz 2.0 there is rcon (QuakeWorld compatible). To use it you must enter rcon_password <password> in the server console or server config file. The Nexuiz client has to set the same password in the same fashion. You can then issue commands with rcon <command> if you are connected to the server or have set rcon_address <ip> or rcon_address <ip>:<port> to point to the server. There are also external rcon tools but make sure you use a QW compatible rcon tool.
É baseado em Quake/UT 99, na altura não lhe dei muita atenção até porque estava na ClanBase com o UT 99 precisamente e não tive muito tempo para jogar.
Mas sim, é um bom jogo.
Apesar de eu aconselhar outro jogo gratuito e também FPS com maior qualidade...
